Existing electrical installations such as power points and lights mandatorily require a safety switch since 2000. This is changing in the near future for existing installation where all circuits will require safety switches as per the current AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules state that additional protection by RCDs must be provided for:

  • - Final subcircuits supplying socket outlets rated at 20A and under

  • ( Power Points )

  • - Final subcircuits supplying lighting circuits with a rated current of 20A or less ( Lights )

  • - Final subcircuits supplying directly connected (i.e. not via a Power Point) electrical equipment such as Ovens, Cooktops or Airconditioners
